Flossy is a beautiful little girl that was adopted in January 2022, she is now up for foster and or adoption as her current home isnt the right fit for her. Her current owners are devastated and love her dearly but want her to find a family in which she will thrive and have less stress. Her owners have given us the below information. “From the minute I saw her I loved her! She’s very loving and quirky and inquisitive and very intelligent and such a funny character. She was born on 15/9/21 and found along with her siblings beside a dustbin and only 2 of of the litter of 6 survived and we adopted her at 5 and a half months old. She’s a Kokoni cross or Collie cross of some sort.

She can be very wary of new things and noises and new situations and strangers to the house. She can sometimes lunge and bark at strangers visiting. She can experience high anxiety when she feels threatened.

We have had a behaviourist come out and in this time we saw a big transformation in Flossy. She was much calmer and responsive to training, less barkey, relaxed, less chewing and so much less reactive to everything . The behaviourist introduced some strategies to help calm Flossy and she had started to respond nicely. I am cautious when feeding her and my other dog and keep them separated around mealtimes/treat times unsupervised times to avoid stress.

I feel that Flossy would be happier in a quiet home with no dogs or a very submissive kind male dog as there’s a chance she may react if growled at and either older (less excitable) children or none. She enjoys attention and affection and I really think she would settle very easily and be an amazing loving companion without the stressors she endures here.

We’ve commenced her on calming treats (a month ago) to help her cope with things and aid with her training and these have really helped calm down  things.

Flossy is obedient especially where treats are involved and she responds well to her name with recall, the look and settle commands, sit lie down and leave it and wait. She loves pinching plastic toys, hats gloves etc but will leave them on command for a treat. She has good food manners and doesn’t greed usually. She’s very food orientated she’s toilet trained sleeps all night on her bed and occasionally throughout the day. She’s good on the lead, her recall is good but she can occasionally chase things (although I can distract her easily with a squeaky ball and treats) she is very energetic and oh she loves to run and has 2 good walks everyday and goes to the beach most days as we’re just a 10 minute walk away.

She’s also used to someone being around for most of the day but can be left for 2/3  hours without too much stress (we  leave her with a filled Kong).

She’s really loving and likes to sit on you when she knows you. She’s such a funny clever little thing and loves playing games like hide a treat or toy, doggy puzzle games, rolling treat balls kongs etc. she’s recently started to entertain herself with a squeaky ball. She loves to walk on stretches of low garden walls too!

She is chipped and spayed and had all vaccinations to date and on regular worm and flea prevention.”
