Jimmy and his siblings were found abandoned in a derelict building in Zante, Greece. They were all so tiny, skinny and covered in fleas.
Jimmy was born approximately 02.01.21 and we believe he will be a medium-sized dog when fully grown. Jimmy looks to be a Lab Pointer Mix, although as we don’t know his parentage so cannot be certain. He has a smooth, pale blond coat with golden brown ears and highlights. He was brought over to foster in the UK as all his siblings had homes; we did not want him to be left behind, and he was the most quiet one of the litter.
He loves cuddles and kisses, loves his food. Like all pups he is learning and, in a previous foster home, he was nervous around men and meeting other dogs, although in his current foster he loves the male human of the house! Jimmy is unsure of some situations, therefore we would like his adopters to be experienced and be willing to continue his training. Jimmy would benefit from somewhere relatively quiet to relax and to have a good-sized garden to be able to charge around in.
Jimmy is crate trained and loves his crate. He is happy left on his own but he does love to chew, as most pups do.
His fantastic foster home was making great strides with his training and meeting other dogs, but this was set back due to Jimmy breaking his leg badly whilst playing with one of the older, bigger dogs. We, as a charity, sought specialist care for him where he had an operation to pin his leg. It cost the charity a great deal of money but we felt with him being such a young dog he deserved the chance of a future with four legs. The cheaper alternative was to amputate, which we are told many rescues would have opted for.
Jimmy has made a full recovery and has been signed off by the vet. He has a special exercise programme for the next 6 weeks but, after that, he will be just like any other normal 10-month-old pup. The leg should never give him any problems in the future so the vet tells us.
He loves to play with other dogs and is better off the lead when doing so. He lives with two larger female dogs whom he respects, but we think he would enjoy being an only dog, as he does prefer human cuddles and company, as some dogs do, rather than playing with the other dogs.
